2002 Windacre Merlot

Tasting Notes – A seductive merlot with abundant raspberry and cherry fruit in the bouquet and continuing onto the palate. Pleasing to the eye with its rich ruby color, the 2002 “Windacre” merlot shows off its blend of cabernet franc and cabernet sauvignon with aromas of violets, black cherry, cedar and rich chocolate. Upon tasting, flavors of ripe cherry and plum are enhanced by hints of eucalyptus and spice. The wine’s beautiful mouthfeel gives way to a long fruit finish with lingering cedar and tobacco. Aging potential 6-10 years.

2001 Windacre Merlot

Tasting Notes – the 2001 Merriam Vineyards “Windacre Vineyard” Merlot tantalizes with aromas of black cherry, cedar, anise and cocoa. Upon tasting, flavors of ripe cherry, chocolate are enhanced by hints of vanilla and clove spice. The wine’s beautiful mouthfeel gives way to a lingering, still fruity finish and completes a truly satisfying, varietally true tasting experience.

2000 Windacre Merlot

Tasting Notes – The 2000 Merriam “Windacre” Merlot is a finely balanced and well-structured wine. Luscious aromas of dark berry fruit, plum and cassis are followed on the palate by notes of vanilla, nutmeg and cedar. Medium tannins give way to a flavorful finish. The wine drinks well now or will cellar for ten to fifteen years.

Tasting Notes – Deep, dark and ruby in color with bing cherry, eucalyptus, strawberry and cedar in the nose. Flavors of red berries, black cherry and bittersweet chocolate with a medium body. Abundant mouthfeel with no hard edges–bright acid, tannins with a slight toast of oak. A lasting finish of cassis, cedar and tobacco. Drink now, but will age gracefully for 5-8 years.

Drinkable now but will age gracefully for 8-10 years.

Tasting Notes – This second bottling is inviting in appearance with its dark ruby red color, the 2004 “Jones Vineyard” Cabernet Franc brings scents of plum-violets, raspberry and cherry with hints of light smoke and spice to the nose. Upon tasting, flavors of blueberry and vanilla on the palate give way to a thick and lasting finish of currant, sweetwood and a hint of coconut.
